West of Lincoln Project
What an experience it all was living out the theme of I AM HERe, then sharing with our community through our exhibit. I feel truly grateful to Ruth for her vision and to each artist for what she brought to this journey.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of something that has awakened so much in me already!! There are no accidents in this world and I count the I AM HERe project as an amazing gift!
“You are turning being a member of our town into an art. I can’t wait to see the progress and participate in BELONGING. This is one of my favorite ways of belonging here!!
Valerie Hiestand Stuart
The BELONGING project gives a voice and perspective of the Nisenan Indians, the Native Americans who were here for countless generations before the California gold rush. This project will help raise visibility and awareness of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe.
Participating in BELONGING allowed me to share how I connect children with nature, land, and bring a sense of belonging to a place.

The West of Lincoln Project is bringing people together because you are caring about their stories, it is truly the spirit of old Venice and community.

Beautiful work Ruth! It’s so awesome that there are people like you that grew up in Venice and want to help share the history and stories of this place, Venice.
Everybody earns a second chance just like Eddie Hadvina in West of Lincoln Project.
